A choir in demand!
02 Dec 2011The St Botolph’s School Choir are in popular demand! They started this year’s ‘season’ with a performance at the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. On Sunday, they sang on the gem106 stage for the Christmas Lights switch-on in Loughborough and then on Wednesday were asked to perform in Boots. Later this month, they attend the Garendon Christmas evening and sing to the residents of Charnwood Nursing Home. Next year… the X-Factor!! ...
Held Together Pilgrimage
18 Nov 2011Last week all the staff and children attended a very special service at St Botolph’s Church where we received the Held Together carving from the staff and pupils of Belton Primary School. The carving, which symbolises Jesus, has been on a Pilgrimage for a year, visiting all the Church schools within Leicestershire. 01 Apr 2011Our Key Stage 1 playground is looking great! We have to purchase products that meet very strict Health & Safety guidelines. Ofsted agree - we are a good school!
25 Mar 2011On the 8th and 9th March, we received our 3 yearly Ofsted inspection. This inspection was carried out by three inspectors. Carnival time!
17 Feb 2011Key Stage 2 have had a wonderful week preparing for their carnival parade! They have created masks, grass skirts and streamers, as well as practising their dancing for the parade today through the streets of Shepshed! The children performed to parents and passers-by in the square and then later performed in the playground for more parents! They all loved dressing up - grown ups too!!
Owls fly in to St Botolph's!
16 Feb 2011The children in our Foundation Stage had a special visit today. Two beautiful owls flew in from Manor Farm as part of their current topic work all about animals. There was an Eagle owl and a Barn owl. The children learnt all about how to care for the owls and what they need to survive. They also held the owls which was a very special treat. Later in the week, the children are fundraising in order to be able to sponsor an animal in need of our support...

Special job for St Botolph's
14 Jan 2011We have been asked by the School Food Support Service to help them design the next dinner menu, due to go in to schools in the Autumn. Carol Watts and Janet Savage asked the school council to talk to their class mates and find out their ideas for main courses and puddings! Then they'll take our ideas and work with school cooks and dieticians to come up with a menu. We feel very privileged to be asked and look forward to seeing our ideas in print!
Getting in the Christmas spirit!
21 Dec 2010What a fantastic week. We've had 3 superb performances from all our children. Foundation Stage had the real "aaah" factor as they performed 'The Sleepy Shepherd' in the school hall. Key Stage 1 looked fabulous with the backdrop of St Botolph's Church, when they performed 'A gift for the baby' and the voices of Key Stage 2 made the spine tingle when they sang their hearts out during their Christmas concert. Christmas Fayre

Helping the Rotary Club
14 Oct 2010Members of Shepshed Rotary club gave us 500 purple crocus bulbs to plant in our Nature area! The croci are planted as a symbol of their work in eradicating polio. Everybody planted bulbs, with holes pre-dug by Mr Docherty. Now we are going to help the Rotary to raise more funds by having Polio as our charity for our Harvest collection....

New Golden Time a hit!
01 Oct 2010Today saw the start of our new Golden Time. It's not just choosing anymore...now it's like a club afternoon, with lots of different activities to choose from. We start off with our special SEAL work and then go off to our chosen activity. All of the children mix together from Year 1 to Year 5 and parents come to play too! 100% Attendance
