“

Both of our children love coming to St Botolph’s. My child has come on so well since joining St Botolph’s in February 2023 which is all down to how well he is supported at school. My child is happy and excited to go to school every day! Keep doing what you’re doing!

“

Excellent school, wonderful and dedicated staff that put children first.... First class education in Shepshed, the Headteacher should be proud of her team and effective leadership!

“

I think OFSTED should consider this school for outstanding status! My child loves going to school and is progressing exceptionally well. The teachers are 100% dedicated and the kids love them, which helps immensely.

Admissions - applying for a place

Admissions - Applying for a place

Do you have a child starting school in 2026?

Applications for parents looking for a place for their child in Reception (starting school in August 2026 opens 1st September 2025.  The closing date for admissions is the 15th January 2026.  Applications received after this date will be classed as late.

Applications are welcome from families who live in and out of our catchment area.

Starting in Reception/ Foundation Stage

Children are admitted to the Foundation Stage at the beginning of the school year (late August) following their 4th birthday. There is a short settling in period after which children attend full time, if appropriate to their needs.

Many children attend local pre-schools before they start school. There are close links between the school and the pre-schools. Our staff make visits to the local pre-schools to get to know the children before they are admitted. Pre-schools are also invited to visit one morning and spend time in our Foundation Stage classrooms.

Before your child starts school Parents/carers/guardians will be invited to visit our school one evening where you will receive lots of information to support you and your child on starting school. You will also be offered a home visit before they begin. There will be lots of opportunities before they start to visit the school together, the Head Teacher will show you and your child around the school and shortly before admission you and your child can attend a 'stay and play' session and will attend an additional introductory transition session.

Applying for a place mid-year for all year groups

If you are interested in a place for your child in any year group and wish to move them from another school during the academic year, please call our office to see if we have any places in the year group required. We have the current potential for 2 classes in each year group (60 places maximum)

Please contact our school office to find out if we have space in your child's year group and please visit us to have a look around.

Making an application

As a maintained Local Authority school, all applications to our school should be made through the Leicestershire Local Authority website (https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/popular-now/apply-for-a-primary-school-place) who ultimately make the decision if a place is to be allocated.

If you would like your child to attend St. Botolph’s C of E Primary School, please click here to apply online.

We are an extremely popular primary school in the local area and beyond due to our reputation within the county. We currently have places for 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6 with a planned admissions limit of 60 pupils (2 classes of 30) in each year group.

This current limit is due to be reviewed by the Local Authority as demand increases.

Appeals

Should you not be successful in securing a place for your child at our school, you can appeal theis decision with the Local Authority. If you need to do this, please contact us and we will work together to try and support you through the process.
